Authors
Author websites are where readers go when a name on a spine is not enough: to find the full list of books, the order they came in, and the voice behind them. This category gathers writers by the place they write from, so an indie author in Ontario and an independent author in Queensland sit in the same directory as a household name in New York.
Use it to find authors whose work runs close to a region you already read, or to move from one book you liked to the rest of that writer's shelf.

Geography is the first split. The state and country tags run from California, Texas and Florida through New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois to North Carolina, Washington, Massachusetts and West Virginia, then across the Atlantic to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and on to New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Ontario and British Columbia. A reader chasing a novel set close to home picks a region and meets writers who work that ground: Amy Tan and Amy Gentry out of California, Rajia Hassib and Adele Myers from West Virginia and North Carolina, Adrian McKinty and André Dao from Victoria. Someone building a reading list around a place gets a shortlist instead of a shelf.
The second split is what the writer does with the place. Bunty Avieson, Amra Pajalic and Andrew Binks write from lives that crossed borders; Alan Warner, Ally Blake and Amy Andrews stay inside one national tradition and push at it. Ali Benjamin, Amy Lovat and Andrea Gunraj show how far a first-person voice can travel from the author's own biography. Pick a region when the setting matters, pick a name when the voice does, and let the two lists argue with each other.
